As work progresses on Mace Plus's Grafton Street project in Mayfair, the site has been temporarily transformed into Europe's largest urban gallery, the "One Spirit Showcase", displaying works by students and graduates of the Royal Academy Schools.
The 19m x 43m canvas is the result of a competition created online by Futurecity with the sponsorship of Royal Academy Schools and project developer Hines UK.
Thousands of entries were well received from current and former Royal Academy students. The winning entry was a photograph titled 'We are our only future' and will be displayed primarily on the 800 square meter canvas next to 12 other short listed entries.
Mace Plus is providing fixed price construction services on the grade A office development over six upper floors as well as retail and residential space throughout the building. The team will also look to construct the steel and concrete structure on two elevations through to a category A fit out. Completion is due in May 2010.
Andrew Wilson, project manager on 1 Grafton Street, Mayfair said: "The Mace Plus team is proud to have worked on this unique art installation which has no doubt created the best presented construction site in London; a standard that we will be maintaining throughout the duration of the project whilst delivering a quality product to Hines".
