Mace Group works extensively in the public sector

Mace Group has had significant presence in the public sector for the last 10 years. Our reputation for successful and innovative delivery working with authorities and councils has grown year on year, and we now work on some 80 local, regional and national frameworks. Since 2003 we have managed over 2,000 public sector projects and programmes ranging from £150,000 to £1.2 billion of capital value.

From education to waste management, from housing to urban regeneration, Mace Group is working on key projects which are renewing public sector facilities, large and small. We are a core participant in the Building Schools for the Future programme, working on £2.2 billion of programmes which will deliver over 230 new secondary schools. In housing and regeneration Mace Group has worked on over £400m of projects as part of the Decent Homes Initiative.

Ours is a comprehensive set of services, from supporting local authorities by engaging with councils to undertake the comprehensive outsourcing of non-core services, to forming partnerships in which service improvement and best value are key objectives. We bring the best of Mace Group's wide experience and history of innovation and create new standards for public sector stakeholders and we can deliver at any scale. What characterises our local government commissions is the emphasis we place on service transformation, performance management, stakeholder engagement and best value.

A wide service
Mace works in six key areas with local authorities and district councils:

We understand the diversity of stakeholders typically involved in local government projects and have created an approach that best supports our public sector clients. We have developed an innovative delivery approach starting with the strategy, briefing and requirements stages, and continuing through the entire lifecycle of a project including design, delivery, commissioning and operation.

At the heart of the Mace offer is core capital programme delivery; we recognise the value of long-term partnering and the need to understand a client's business in order to add value. The public sector clearly functions under particular stresses of cost and deadine, so we work with our local government clients to continually improve processes and increase the certainty of time, cost and quality in individual project delivery. By analysing existing processes, we identify areas requiring improvement and structure a series of changes that can be progressively introduced throughout the organisation to minimise disruption and resistance.
