In 2008 Mace was awarded a contract to project manage a 5 star plus hotel resort and spa for SSPD on Saadiyat Island ("Island of Happiness") which is located off Abu Dhabi, and where there is a growing anticipation that the small island will become the emirate's cultural centre, playing host to both Guggenheim and Louvre museums by 2012
The resort development will comprise 84,700 square metre gross area situated towards the north eastern corner of Saadiyat island (Plot I. D. SB-10), Abu Dhabi, providing visitors with stunning views of the gulf.
The hotel resort and spa will consists of two core elements.
Main hotel building with approx. 263 standard guestrooms and 37 different types of suites, a main reception, lobby with water feature, lounge, executive club, 5 restaurants, café, bar, grand ballroom, conference rooms, meeting rooms, retail area, lifts, general circulation, public toilets and pool bar.
The villas comprise various 2-3-4 bedroom residences located around a state of the art health spa and wellness centre all set its own landscaping, including 4 tennis courts. Mace's client SSPD, aims to provide a contemporary, iconic and internationally styled 5***** plus resort that fully maximises the value of the site and harmonise with Saadiyat Island's emerging reputation for as a Abu Dhabi's main luxury lifestyle destination.
