Deliverability review - best in show
The Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) appointed Mace in October 2007 to provide project management and preconstruction services to assist the development of the Norton Park proposals for Scotland’s National Showground, set to be one of Scotland's most significant construction projects.
The Royal Highland Centre hosts around 200 events a year attracting 1.2 million visitors, and contributes around £250m annually to the Scottish economy. The relocation of the Royal Highland Centre, due to the proposed expansion of Edinburgh Airport, offers the opportunity to create a truly world class showground and events venue.
The RHASS has a vision for Norton Park of being the best exhibition centre in Scotland, one of the best showground and exhibition centers in Europe and within the top 200 events venues worldwide.
Mace has been appointed as project manager and initially prepared a deliverability appraisal which now provides a framework for the continued development of the masterplan process for Norton Park. As part of this initial work Mace managed a design competition for the selection of a masterplan architect and supported the development of the strategic business plan.
The commission has progressed to the management and development of the masterplan proposals targeting submission for planning permission by May 2009.
