Information
Haringey Council Building Schools for the Future programme represents an investment of circa £200 million in the secondary education provision with the borough. Mace was appointed project manager for this project which includes work at all eleven existing schools plus a brand new school on a brownfield site.
Since its inception, Mace have worked on the programme as project and programme manager during the delivery phase. Mace took some existing, well-founded systems and remodelled them for the demands of the next stages. Based on an assessment of programme/governance and priority, a work stream template was produced to expediently keep all management abreast of progress and the current issues. In addition, working with Place Group, Mace made a quick progression to approval of the SBC and production of the OBC and eventual sign off of the FBC to secure funding for the programme.
The non-LEP solution uses conventional design and build contracts awarded from a framework that Mace assisted in establishing. Design, construction and ICT are all procured directly by the Council and as a result, strong project management skills are required to ensure consideration of all stakeholders.
Mace supplied an experienced business change programme manager to assist in restructuring the FM and maintenance elements of the PFI to allow BSF to be delivered. This restructuring was successfully completed in 13 months while the design of the first phase schools was being completed.
