Step up to the crease, the Mace Celebrity Cricket Challenge returns!

Mace's Celebrity Cricket Challenge, in aid of WaterAid' at the BritOval on Wednesday 14 July is approaching and teams are making final preparations, practicing in the nets and agreeing tactics in the hope of lifting the coveted winners trophy.

The event will see teams take on each other and the infamous Bunburys - the world's number one celebrity cricket team. The Bunburys, founded by David English MBE, includes famous cricketers and sporting/ non-sporting celebrities. Player's confirmed for this year's event are Mark Ramprakash, returning for the second year, Jeff Thomson, (Australian cricketer and legendary fast bowler), Matt Thomson (Australian cricketer and son of Jeff Thomson), Darren Cousins (Essex CC), Tony Pigott (Surrey and England CC), Andy Clarke (Essex CC), Steve Bennett (Premiership football referee), John Salako (Ex-Premiership footballer), Perry Groves (Ex-Arsenal footballer), Peter Leet (Former Grand Prix racing driver) and Mick Harford (Ex-Chelsea and England footballer).

Representatives from the UK water and infrastructure industry include last year's winners Thames Water, who are also this year's gold sponsor, Balfour Beatty, United Utilities, Enterprise, Veolia Water, H20 Water, London Underground and DHL.

The event is in aid of WaterAid and monies raised will support the work that WaterAid carries out in the developing world to enable some of the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. Just £15 can provide a person with a lasting supply of water and sanitation.

The event has already picked up interest from the media, with national sports radio channel TalkSport looking to publicise the event on the day with an interview with Sir David English and New Civil Engineer (NCE) secured as media partner.
