Mace Plus puts health and safety into action at Teddington School

24/11/2009
Mace Plus has hosted a site tour of the new build Teddington School in Richmond for its year 11 students. The tour was used to demonstrate the health and safety measures put in place by Mace Plus, as main contractor on the project.
Assistant project manager, William Boitey, led proceedings with a site induction and an explanation of the safety practices used in the build of the school. He then took students on a tour of the new building to highlight the practices in use. He said: "I was thrilled to take the pupils of Teddington School around the site of their new school building and judging by the interest they took and the articulate questions they asked, there may be a few future construction careers in the making! I look forward to being involved in similar tours with the school in the future."
Assistant Head Kevin Watling said: "This visit is a great example of the many ways we have worked to ensure that the new build benefits all our students, including senior students who will have left before the new school is opened. Our Year 11 students were given first-hand experience of a live construction environment - an opportunity that would not have been possible without the Mace Plus team's willingness to host the visit and Mr Boitey's enthusiastic and thoughtful contributions. It epitomises the close working partnership we have had with Mace Plus."
Managing director of Mace Plus, Mark Castle added: "This was a great opportunity to show the students a live construction environment and a preview of what their new school will look like."
