Mace Group has completed two student accommodation facilities for JG Land and Estates in East London.
Mace were appointed as project managers and employers agents on both schemes in 2006, working closely with award-winning architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios to deliver Hive Apartments and Broadway Malyan to deliver the Hive Studios.
The two residences have achieved a sustainable design to a BREEAM excellent standard. Both buildings incorporate the latest eco-friendly technology including biomass boilers that burn recycled wood pellets, energy efficient lighting and sedum roofs. The projects also use ‘Secure-by-Design' technology that comes accredited with hotel style access readers and the latest Gent fire alarms.
Hive Studios, situated in Bethnal Green, consists of 203 high quality self contained studios arranged over six floors with under floor heating, broadband services and high quality prefabricated bathroom pods. A unique feature of the project is a dedicated communal area with wi-fi, cinema lounge, laundrette, café and roof garden that has been designed to accommodate the student lifestyle.
The Hoxton-based Hive Apartments is a 220-room scheme incorporating a mixture of studios, two-bed twin rooms and six-bed cluster flats.
